Tolo Appreciation 2017- Tolo Photography Tour

Through the observation and appreciation of the beauty of Ting Kok coast’s ecosystem and stunning landscapes of Plover Cove and Tolo Harbour, this activity aims to enhance the connection between people with nature and promote the message of protecting our marine and coastal environment.

Tolo Appreciation 2017- Bird Watching in Shek Nagu Chau and Coastal Clean-up at Grass Island

Tolo Channel is one of the important nesting areas for terns which visit Hong Kong in the summertime. They build their nests, hatch their eggs and nurse their chicks here before returning to their foraging ground. Participants can observe these beautiful terns and other water birds, at the same time, to clean the shoreline to protect this precious wildlife.

Tolo Appreciation 2017- Stargazing and Photo Shooting Experience in Plover Cove Reservoir

With long distance from the city, the Tolo Channel is one of the ideal places for stargazing. We are honoured to have the stargazing expert from Astrolink HK to bring us away from the city and enjoy an enjoyable night of stargazing and photo shooting at Plover Cove Reservoir. Participants can learn how to identify different constellations and get some tips on night sky shooting skills.

Tolo Appreciation 2017- Coastal Eco-tour to Lai Chi Chong

Lai Chi Chong is a popular hiking and biodiversity hotspot located at the southern part of Tolo Channel. In the upcoming August, our eco-tour guides will lead you and your child to explore the coastal habitats of Lai Chi Chong. There will be an opportunity to understand the fascinating creatures found there, as well as to learn to cherish and protect the coastal wildlife in Hong Kong.

Tolo Appreciation 2017-Guided Tour for Experiencing Fishermen Culture in Sam Mun Tsai

Hong Kong is used to be a prosperous fishing post. Even though with the transition of the local economy, fishing and aquaculture industries are still important to our daily life nowadays! Through this activity, tutors will bring us to explore and experience the daily life and the interesting culture of our fishermen.

Tolo Appreciation 2017- Starfish Bay Biodiversity Survey Experience

Starfish Bay is a quiet bay near the city in Hong Kong, where we can find the mudflat, sandy shore and rocky shore habitats. The biodiversity is rich over there. Participants will become biodiversity surveyor to have close observation and encounter of these amazing wildlife. At the same time, we can learn about the ecological value and the way to protect our marine environment.

Tolo Appreciation 2017-Ma Shi Chau Eco-tour and Coastal Clean-up

Follow the profession R2G eco-guide to visit the "Ma Shi Chau Special Area". Other than learning the special landscapes or features like tombolo, colourful mudstone and quartz vein, eco-guide will also introduce the ecosystem there. Moreover, we will take part in coastal clean-up together to protect our precious marine environment.

Tolo Appreciation 2017-Hiking Eco-tour from Sham Chung to Hoi Ha Wan

This time we will hike from Sham Chung to Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park, and explore a diversity of habitats (such as mudflat, river, mangroves and marine park) along the trail between these two biodiversity hotspots in Tolo Channel. The participants will get a better understanding of the ecological value of different organisms as well as the relationship between the local people and the environment.

Tolo Eco-tour Exploration

To enhance the public's and students' understanding of the coastal habitats and biodiversity of Hong Kong, AFCD will organise a series of eco-tours at Starfish Bay of Wu Kai Sha and Ting Kok SSSI during July-December 2017. Our eco-tour guides will show you the diverse coastal life and the proper ways to appreciate our nature.

Tolo Coastal Clean-up

The coastlines of Tolo Harbour and Tolo Channel are important natural habitats of Hong Kong. AFCD organises a number of coastal clean-ups at different coastal areas of Tolo Channel for the public to help protect our marine environment. Apart from the coastal clean-up, a guided tour will be arranged to introduce to the participants the geographical and ecological features of the site.

Teacher Workshop on Marine Biodiversity

To enhance the understanding of teachers on marine ecology and biodiversity of Hong Kong, AFCD will organise two workshops introduce the ecological important habitats and coastal organisms, as well as our work on marine conservation. The connection between liberal study and marine conservation issues will also be discussed. Each workshop includes a seminar and a field trip. We hope the participants will incorporate the topics about marine conservation and biodiversity into their teaching.
