Notes on Chinese Common Name of Pesticides

Concern has been raised by pesticides traders and users in Hong Kong on the Chinese common name of pesticides. Due to the discrepancies between the translation of Chinese common names by different sources of information, traders and users are confused by these common names and may have difficulties identifying particular pesticides during import, supply, retail and application activities.

Under the current Pesticides Ordinances, Cap.133, English chemical names and common names are adopted as the only official names of pesticides and entered into the Pesticides Register. Pesticides traders are recommended to use the English common names as stated in the Part I and Part II registered pesticides list for import, supply and sale of pesticides in Hong Kong.
