Desmos is a common native scrambling shrub in Hong Kong's countryside. It has a Chinese name meaning 'Mock Hawk's Claw' because its curved petals look like the claws of raptors. Its fruits are interesting because they look like strings of beads or chicken claws, and the colour changes from yellow to red when they become ripe.
