An evergreen small tree indigenous to south-eastern China. Its Chinese common name originates from the resemblance of its fruits to the Chinese musical instrument Pipa. Loquat is fast-growing, produces a dense canopy and usually grows into a good tree form. These characteristics make it a good landscaping tree.Its leaves and seeds are used in traditional Chinese medicine. Loquat leaves is the major ingredients of Loquat syrup for relieving sore throat and coughs.
