Wild Bean
Pongamia pinnata

Wild Bean has a Chinese name meaning 'water wampi' because it is common in waterside habitats such as riverbanks and seashores, and its compound leaves look similar to those of the fruit tree 'wampi'. Unlike most members of the same family, the pods of Wild Bean do not split to release seeds when mature. The seeds are protected by the pericarp and dispersed by water currents.
