Hong Kong Herbarium has Launched its Revamped Website
The Hong Kong Herbarium of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) has launched its revamped website to enable members of the public to get more botanical information more easily.
Serving as an essential local botanical information hub for the public, the contents of the website have been enriched by adding descriptions of families and genera as well as the corresponding dichotomous keys included in Flora of Hong Kong (English version 2007-2011 only) while maintaining a clear and simple website design.
Meanwhile, the website also adopts a more user-friendly approach for viewing species information. Key information, such as conservation status, the Flora’s species descriptions and illustration as well as scanned image of plant specimen (if available), can now be viewed at a glance on species profile page.
In order to further cater for members of the public with different needs, the website also supports viewing of search results either in graphics or as lists. Different drop-down lists are also available on search result pages, allowing users’ quicker access to botanical information of species of other families, species of other genera as well as species within the same genus.
