Cultivation of Organic Cabbage
Cultivation Environment :	Cabbage likes cold weather. The ideal temperature for growing is between 18 and 22 In Hong Kong, September to December here is a good time for sowing and planting. The most suitable soil should be thick, deep and rich in organic matter, with a pH of 6.5 ~ 7.0, as well as good drainage and ventilation.
Planting and Spacing :	Use transplanting. Germination takes about 3 days. The seedlings can be transplanted when coming into 2 to 3 true leaves (about 16 to 20 days after sowing).ťťťťťťť Row and plant spacing should be about 60 cm (24 inches) and arranged in a triangular pattern.ťť
Application of Fertilizer and Management:	Basal dressing: Apply 1,000 kg compost, peanut cake and bone meal each 50 kg to each d.c..ťťťťťťťťťťťťťťťťťťť Top dressing: Apply fertilizer again 10 days after transplanting. Apply 50 kg organic fertilizer (N:P:K = 4:3:3) to each d.c.. Apply the same amount of fertilizer again 3 weeks later. Light ploughing, earthing up and weeding should be done at each top dressing. Maintain adequate water supply throughout the growth period. (1 d.c.= 674 square metres or 7,260 square feet)
Harvesting :	Generally, cabbage is ready for harvest about 50 to 60 days after planting when the head is fully grown and firm.
