Yellow-spotted Keelback

Fowlea flavipunctatus

Yellow-spotted Keelback is a common medium to large snake species. Its back is olive-brown with black checkerboard patterns across the body, and some individuals have reddish orange spots along their sides. They are active both day and night, typically found near lowland ponds, streams, or farmlands. They are excellent swimmers and primarily feed on fish and frogs.

Although Yellow-spotted Keelbacks are non-venomous, they are aggressive. When threatened, they flatten their necks and raise the front half of their body, and will vigorously attack potential threats.
