Japanese Pipistrelle

Pipistrellus abramus

Japanese Pipistrelle is a highly adaptable, small-sized bat species that can thrive in urban environments. They particularly prefer to roost in groups within crevices of buildings and other man-made structures (such as eaves, air conditioners, and parasols), making them quite common in both urban and rural areas.

Japanese Pipistrelles are insectivorous, with a diverse diet including beetles, flies, wasps, and mosquitoes. They excel at catching insects in flight, thus playing a crucial role in controlling insect populations within the ecosystem.
